Learn the Story behind C2K - Cafe 2000

From 2000-2001

REVIEW: Blooming guitar virtuoso offers heavy instrumental guitar rock that would've been a big hit in the '80s. May not be the flavor of the month, but these guys can play their instruments and the band is tight. - Kali H.

REVIEW: This American Melodic Hardrockband sent me a promotional CD titled 'Cafe 2000'. The CD contains 11 songs and especially the start is pretty good. Opener "Losing your faith" is a nice semi melodic rocker (updated 90s sound). Next track "Time 2 run" is a good 80s influenced melodic hardrocksong a la ICON, DANGER DANGER, ROUGH CUTT… This is the best song of the whole CD, just listen to the great harmonies. "Tell me" is nice hardrock, and is 70s orientated, kinda like UFO. The semi melodic rocker "Halloween" is up next. The following 4 songs are a bit weaker unfortunately, but the semi-ballad "Everfly" is pretty nice again. The CD closes with the rockers "Follow" and "Dogged" (instrumental).

Review on "EL34" from Strutter'zine 7/4/01

Some time ago I reviewed the band C2K and now I have the pleasure to review the first CD from EL34, a band that features one of the members from C2K, namely Steve Dunch. This new act has a female singer [ Helena McFarland] who gives the music of EL34 a melodic touch. Actually. I really like the songs on the EL34 CD, as they are good rocking melodic tunes. The best ones are the up-tempo melodic rockers  "These four walls"  and  "I'll be there",  the mid-tempo "No more promises" & the semi melodic pop-rocker  "You lied to me" (a bit like early 80s PAT BENATAR). This isn't bad at all, and I can definitely recommend this to fans of female fronted melodic rock.

C2K - VOL. II  (INDEPENDENT)

C2K consists of multi-instrumentalist Steve Dunch, who does almost everything on his own, and lead singer Joe Albanese.  C2K has released a good melodic rock album. The CDR Steve sent me contains 6 tracks, of which opener "Goodbye to Innocence" is definitely the best song, as this is a great catchy 80's type of up-tempo melodic rock.  It's a pity there aren't anymore tracks in this style on the album, because then it would have been a more interesting record. Nevertheless, there are still some more good tunes to check out, such as the semi melodic rocker "Mother Maude" and the semi melodic rockballads "Second Time Around" and "Wish You Well".  More info on C2K at: http://www.shaboda.20m.com and e-mail at: shaboda@directed-tech.com
