(This website is dedicated to the memory of my Grandmother Veronica.  I will always miss you).

I guess it started when I got my first guitar for Christmas (I believe it was in '83, although I could be mistaken).  A sunburst "Global" acoustic... a gift from my Parents.. and I loved it.. and I still have it today, playable, intact, with my KISS signatures on the front.  It definately holds a lot of memories for me.

After that I wasn't really serious about playing until the winter of  '87, when I started to listen to bands like KISS, AC/DC, VAN HALEN, and OZZY... that winter I got my first electric guitar and little amp (no name Sear's brand that I still have)... it wouldn't stay in tune (and I didn't know HOW to tune) and the amp had no distortion channel... but I was rockin' in my room and the open windows on those hot summer nites were my audience... I am sure the neighbors loved all the outta' tune chords.

Being a big KISS fan, I soon started to play bass because (at the time) I thought Gene Simmons was cool.... and because BASS really moves the air.. and having that kind of power is just damn cool...   This is the time where I really started to practice and played along with every record I could find... and I played with as many people as I could... I'd play every day with someone different if possible.... I really wanted people to realize that I was serious about being a good musician.

Through the rest of my high school years I tried to play with as many people as I could.... in garages, 'folk group' in high school, 'jam nites' in the school band room, and few talent shows here and there..... I learned a LOT during this period.   I went to Catholic High School, where one of the priests there played guitar, Father Bill O'Brien. He was a major influence.  (He could play anything on his Black Beauty Les Paul).  He really got me into playing the blues, and listening to U2, The Stones, and The Beatles.  I continued to jam with some friends of mine through Senior year (can you say "Rockin' the Garage"!!!?!?)

After high school, I started playing with local musicians, forming new bands to perform originals and covers ("Trik Gypsy", "Inspector 12", "Voodoo Rhythm Devils",  "Psycho Cafe" , "EL34", "Cyndermine", "SonicAge"  ..... and MANY more)  [visit my History page].

In 1999,  I started a new project called "C2K - Cafe 2000"... which was my 1st CD, and I was happy about it....  Some of it was based on material that never made the Psycho Cafe "Believe" cassette in '94.

Fast Forward to 2005: SonicAge has been together for a couple years...   which now consists of the original Psycho Cafe lineup from 1994!!   Everything has come full circle, and we are looking ahead to many exciting things in the future.

To sum it all up, I love music. I love listening to it. I love playing it. I love writing it.  It's a good outlet for me --. It has brought me a lot of experiences over the years [some good and some bad], but that's OK... cuz in the end, it's only rock and roll... and I like it.

 It's me - Shaboda!

The above picture was taken at a guitar shop in Minnesota  when Valorie and I  visited some friends that we met through IRC.  That was a fun trip! (Thanks Rhonda for the photo!)

You're probably asking yourself right now why the HELL does he call himself Shaboda?

Well... it's a nickname that some friends of mine gave me a few years back... it started out as "Steve the Chewbacca" (Cuz they said I was big and hairy!) which led to "Shabidabooda" and eventually, the more refined "Shaboda".

Good Story, huh?    :)
